Here is a quote from Gail found on Instagram:
Designers solve problems, engage readers, and help create or market products. Unless it’s personal work, design is outward-facing. It’s for and about other people.
The Instagram post was dated 23rd February 2024, in time for Black History Month in the USA. (Black History
Month in the UK is in October) Gail was the first African American winner of the National Design Award for
Lifetime Achievement. (she was also the third woman to win the award in its 19-year history)

Although, to my shame, I know little about Black History, this is not to say that I do not find it interesting. I think for me I need a focus, in order to find something interesting, so the fact that Gail Anderson has a tie-in with this, has given me the desire to learn more.
I browsed samples of Gail's work on her website and sadly I wouldn't say I am either a fan or not a fan. Perhaps I'm simply not a fan of her style? If we take one collection of her work, for Guthrie Theater, there were plays that I am familiar with, but I wasn't able to relate to the chosen imagery on the poster.
