Assignment 4: Composition

The assignment is to create a poster for a music concert.

I started off, with thinking about what music styles I liked:

This didn't really inspire me, to be honest, so then I turned it around and thought about concerts I've seen.

An artist which captured my imagination is Helene Fischer. No clue how she ended up on my YouTube playlist, but somehow she did. This is the first song of hers I heard:

Now, when my attention turned to Helene Fischer within the context of concerts, the performance that immediately sprung to mind was 'Flieger'.

I should at this point state that I do not speak a word of German. However, since she is known as the "Queen of Schlager" I think I'm safe with her lyrics.
(see Wikipedia [1] for an explanation of this German term)

Here is the video from the concert for Flieger:

Even if you don't play the video, the screenshot of her in a harness should already have piqued your interest.

No?

This is a screen grab from the above video.

(It was raining, too)

To give you a better perspective on what you're looking at, here's a wider shot from the same video:

If that doesn't make you want to go to a concert in a language you don't understand I don't know what would.

Anyways, back on target. A poster for a concert.

Want to see how they marketed Helene's concert in Munich?

Personally, having watched the video, I was underwhelmed, so this would be my chosen subject matter.

First, I created an avatar for Helene in Character Creator, and imported it into Blender. I then dressed her in an outfit befitting a music concert, and gave her a harness:

If I'm honest, it looks a bit ... weak?

Undaunted, I added the concert details to create my finished poster:

This still looks very flat. Accepting that it is supposed to be a flat poster, the effort employed to create a 3D scene is lost. For example, just the sparkly outfit alone took a whole day.

To retain some semblence of sanity, here is a short animation showing off the 3D aspect:
